Miley Cyrus made a big makeup mistake on the red carpet

When she isn’t singing and wowing fans on stage, Miley Cyrus is attending some of the hottest events in Hollywood. Recently, the young celebrity attended the Maxim Hot 100 Party and opted for bold red lipstick, long lashes and an ample amount of mascara to impress onlookers. However, Hollywood Life claims that she made one obvious mistake – she didn’t blend her makeup!

Whoever was in charge of Ms. Cyrus’ face will likely be getting a talking to after her appearance at this star-studded event. The powder used on the rest of her face was blended poorly – if not at all – around her chin. This created a mismatched look that attracted the attention of photographers at the party.

As you can see, these types of cosmetics mistakes happen to the best of us. However, there are a few ways you can ensure that you’re using your powder properly when you apply it to your face. TLC claims that it’s critical to blend your foundation all the way down to your neck to create a cohesive look. Then, blend all of your makeup seamlessly throughout your face, whether you’re using just blush or going nuts with everything from eyeshadow to bronzer.

It's time to adopt a Boho look in time for summer

As more celebrities begin to take advantage of summer makeup and hair products, we’re seeing an increase in Boho looks! It seems that more women are attempting to say, “I don’t care how my hair looks,” with their tresses as of late. One of these women is Ashley Benson, the star of the hit television show “Pretty Little Liars.”

Recently, the blonde bombshell was spotted at a concert with waves in her hair and something rather unusual – yarn! Glamour magazine reported on the celebrity sighting, claiming that yarn is going to be extremely popular this season. Ditch the headbands and opt for good old-fashioned string if you want to look chic in 2013!

Kate Hudson is another celebrity who’s adopting the Boho look just in time for summer. She was spotted at the Tribeca Film Festival with her hair down, full of waves that really showed the crowd that she couldn’t care less about her locks! She made it work, and you can too with a volume-infusing hair spray and a quick blow-dry with a round brush, according to Hollywood Life.

Do you know what hair 'dos are hot this spring?

If you feel like you’re missing out on some of the hottest hair trends of the season, there’s no better time to brush up on the latest styles than now! Celebrities on the red carpet are doing a fantastic job of giving everyday women a little bit of inspiration.

One of the biggest trends in hair as of late seems to be the pixie cut, according to the Pittsburgh Gazette. Actress Charlize Theron is the latest to sport this ‘do, and it takes a brave woman to go without long, luscious locks! However, you might want to try this style if you’re getting tired of maintaining your hair with specialized shampoos and conditioners.

Another trend that you can consider is curly hair, which is also becoming popular around Hollywood. While some people find curls difficult to keep up, there are many hair styling products on the market today that can combat issues such as frizz.

If you aren’t sure about how curly hair will look on you, Allure magazine recommends opting for layers. This can give you the volume you need to rock some waves regardless of how your ‘do naturally looks on your head!

Crystals and glitter can brighten up any face

One trend that has been booming in recent months is glitter, and it isn’t going away any time soon. Elle magazine claims that it’s all about sparkling these days, whether you have a cocktail party to attend or you’re going to another formal event. Specifically, more models are being seen with gemstones on everything from their eyelids to their pouts, replacing lipstick and eyeshadow – for at least the time being.

But is it really practical to go all-out with gems and glitter? What if you’re only getting ready to go to work?

“Less is more,” celebrity makeup artist Mary Phillips told the news source, claiming that crystals might be best reserved for runway shows. “Unless it’s for a performance, I wouldn’t have your entire lips crystalled.”

In some instances, you might feel downright uncomfortable wearing any type of makeup that gives you some shine. However, you don’t need to be a teenager to flaunt this look in a stylish manner. If you’re afraid of how glitter might appear on your face, Marie Claire magazine recommends taking it slowly and applying it to your eyelids first. Then, you can move on to shimmery blush and lip gloss.

Say good-bye to colorful makeup in fall 2013

Is it a little too soon to be thinking about fall? Makeup artists don’t think so, and many of the cosmetics trends that are expected to take the season by storm can be found on the runway right now. Recently, Allure magazine reported on some of the makeup styles you’ll likely be seeing later this year once summer has wrapped up.

Most notably, you might want to keep your Dermablend concealer on hand, as natural, feminine looks appear to be reigning supreme on the runway. There’s no better way to showcase your beautiful features than with neutral eyeshadow, lipstick and blush, and this is what Valentino tried to stress at a recent show.

Another trend that seemed to be emerging was the glossy, nude pout. Gone are the days when women were scrambling to get their hands on bold red lipstick – now is the time to go colorless and show off your lips as they are.

If you’re used to wearing pops of color, it might be a bit challenging to tone it down a little bit. However, Real Simple magazine claims that you can easily take advantage of this trend once fall arrives by sticking to your concealer to hide your flaws and go bare.

Do you know how to bring out your inner 1920s flapper?

If you haven’t seen “The Great Gatsby” yet, you might be missing out on some of the hottest makeup trends of the season! It’s not uncommon for Hollywood to set the tone for styles in the world of cosmetics, and this movie was no different. Now, it seems like everyone wants to get a taste of the 1920s and bring out the Daisy Buchanan in herself!

The Huffington Post reported that the 1920s were all about bringing out the most of your feminine qualities through your makeup. This is why women were seen all dolled up with bold lipsticks and eyeliner – no, they weren’t just craving attention! This was the style of the day, and it was used heavily throughout “The Great Gatsby.”

Dark eye makeup was a cornerstone of style in the 1920s, and it wasn’t just flappers who rocked the look. Anyone who wanted to appear glamorous knew that dramatic eye makeup was the ticket. To achieve the perfect look from this era, Hollywood Life recommends being generous with your mascara and giving your lashes some volume. On your lips, opt for a bold red to make your pout truly stand out.

Are food and makeup meant to be together?

Are food and makeup meant to be together?

If you love food, have you ever thought about how it could apply to your cosmetics? These days, manufacturers aren’t just worrying about how their makeup will look on consumers’ faces – they want to make sure they’re delicious, too!

Cosmetics Design recently reported that while makeup brands aren’t necessarily creating items to be consumed, they’re including ingredients that could be ingested without causing any problems. The reason for this is because some of the same components found in food are incredibly useful in cosmetics. As more people look for natural-based eyeshadow, lip liner and mascara, food-based makeup might become popular in the near future.

Cocoa, for instance, is incredibly helpful to makeup creators because of its antioxidants. Coffee beans and chocolate extracts are also becoming mainstream in the industry. This is leading many people to believe that the food and makeup realms might come closer together in the coming years.

In any case, it’s always worth taking another look at your cosmetics to ensure that they’re safe for your face, regardless of whether they contain food. Items that don’t have expiration dates, smell strange or look dirty should be discarded, according to Parents Connect.

Kerry Washington knows how to flaunt her pout

One woman who knows a lot about showing off her gorgeous complexion in front of the cameras is Kerry Washington. When she isn’t acting, she’s making appearances at movie premieres. Recently, Washington was spotted at the debut of “Peeples” in Los Angeles looking more radiant than ever.

Washington decided to go glam for the event, showing off her curves in a beautiful black and white gown. On her face, she chose to use a bit of black eyeliner around her eyes and treated her lashes to an ample amount of dark mascara. However, it was her pout that truly stole the show – Washington opted for a mauve lipstick that accentuated the curves and voluptuous size of her lips. Under the lights of the cameras, she turned heads as she walked down the red carpet.

Not everyone is blessed with large, luscious lips, and you might be one of the many people out there with a small pout. That being said, don’t worry – there are many ways to create the illusion of more size! Parents Connect recommends using a lip liner to define their shape, then opting for a neutral lipstick.
