Your wrinkles may make you seem angry and sad

Do you consider yourself to be an upbeat, optimistic person? Are you happy with where your life is right now? Your face might be telling people otherwise, according to NBC News. Specifically, the signs of aging may be leading individuals to think that you’re sad and angry, even when you’re not!

At the annual meeting of the Association for Psychological Science, a study was presented that looked at how people generally view others and judge them based on their facial appearances. Creases and furrows led many people to think that the faces they were looking at belonged to older, sad individuals, even though this wasn’t necessarily true. Now that you’ve heard the science behind the assumptions, you likely don’t want to be one of these misjudged people!

There are a couple of ways you can fight signs of aging on a daily basis. When you moisturize, try to use a lotion that contains SPF to protect your skin from ultraviolet rays. The American Academy of Dermatology claims that wearing sunscreen every day can reduce the development of wrinkles. Woman’s Day magazine notes that staying hydrated and drinking plenty of water might also help you combat fine lines.

Think about your skin before having one more martini

Think about your skin before having one more martini

When you go out for a round of drinks with your girlfriends, the last thing on your mind is likely the signs of aging on your face. However, indulging in a little liquor might be making you look older than you really are, meaning you might want to keep tabs on how much you drink on a regular basis, according to StyleList magazine.

By sipping on alcohol frequently, you may be causing your skin to dry out. This can instantly make wrinkles and fine lines seem more evident, which can add years to your appearance. Alcohol can also rob your body of nutrients and vitamins, many of which are responsible for helping you maintain your youthful look. In turn, you may also start to see more inflammation on your skin, which is downright unsightly.

The most obvious way to prevent these instances from happening to you is to avoid drinking altogether, but this likely isn’t an ideal option. Do your skin some good by investing in a moisturizer that hydrates your body and keeps dryness at bay. In addition to investing in lotion, Discovery Health recommends drinking plenty of water. This can keep your body hydrated from the inside out.

Kourtney Kardashian goes bold with blue eyeliner

When you’re a part of the Kardashian family, it’s almost mandatory to look beautiful whenever you’re out in public. Kourtney Kardashian knows that this is true, especially when walking along the red carpet. Recently, the reality television star made an appearance at the 30th birthday bash held for her longtime boyfriend, Scott Disick.

At the event, her lacy, feathery dress stole most of the show, giving her an edgy look that most people aren’t used to seeing. However, it might have been Kardashian’s eye makeup that truly made her appear more unique – blue eyeliner was on tap! It also seemed as if Kardashian wore a bit of bronzer to give her face some summer-inspired color while she smiled for photographers. Because her eye makeup was so dramatic, she chose to go light on her pout with a sheer glossy lipstick.

It’s too early to tell if this is the new type of look that Kardashian will be rocking in the future. However, you can take advantage of her style now before everyone else hops on the bandwagon. To avoid looking too over-the-top, Redbook magazine recommends using blue eyeliner on your inner rims for a clean appearance.

3 ways to stop frizzy beach hair in its tracks

With the arrival of summer comes longer days and more opportunities to hit the beach. However, the sun and salty air can wreak havoc on your tresses, especially if you already have frizzy hair. After putting all of that styling product into your locks, you might be disappointed to see your ‘do end up in shambles. Here are some tips for combating frizzy hair while you’re at the beach and catching some rays.

1. Keep your hair hydrated
Allure magazine recommends using a hydrating serum or leave-in conditioner to keep your hair tame and prevent frizz from taking over.

2. Don’t wash your hair daily
Family Circle magazine claims that you can do your hair some good by not washing it every day. This allows its natural oils to get to work, which can prevent frizz from erupting out of nowhere.

3. Know your tools
Certain tools are better than others for your hair, depending on its thickness and condition. Examine your brushes and combs prior to using them – some may be better suited for keeping frizz away and taming your ‘do than others. Your stylist can help you decipher the differences.

Khloe Kardashian Odom shows off pout in nude shade

When she isn’t promoting her clothing line or reality television show, Khloe Kardashian Odom is making red carpet appearances around the world. Recently, the celebrity was present at the launch of the Glam Louder Program and Bling It On! Contest for HPNOTIQ liqueur, and she couldn’t have looked more stunning.

The Kardashian sister showed off her curves in a little, tight-fitting dress composed of horizontal red and white stripes – very summer chic! On her face, she wore a nude lipstick and only a hint of pink blush on the apples of her cheeks. Around her peepers, she opted for black mascara and a bit of black eyeliner to give her eyes some intrigue.

Just because you don’t have your own reality television show doesn’t mean that you can’t look fabulous this season! One way to fall in line with trends of the summer is to wear a neutral lipstick on your lips. Bella Sugar recommends looking for one that has a glossy finish to ensure that your appearance doesn’t fall flat. Before you put it on, be sure to exfoliate your lips to remove dead skin and give yourself a clean surface.

Is Ke$ha finally growing up with her makeup choices?

It's no secret that Ke$ha can't get enough of the party life now that she's a famous singer, but the pop star seems to be growing up right in front of the world's eyes! Recently, Ke$ha showed up to the 2013 Billboard Music Awards wearing something refreshing – a little black dress. Her hair was tied back, sleek and casual – definitely different from what the pop star usually chooses to do with her tresses!

It's also worth noting that Ke$ha toned down her makeup for once. Instead of wearing flashy eyeshadow and more than enough eyeliner, she chose to play it simple with a small amount of black liquid eyeliner around her peepers. She had a cat eye look and very little mascara on her lashes.

On her lips, Ke$ha wore a light pink lipstick, then used a subtle peach blush on her cheeks for some color. Some would say that it was very adult of the songstress, who's been criticized for her fashion and makeup choices in the past.

Want to rock a pink lipstick that perfectly matches your pout? InStyle magazine claims that if you try to match your lipstick color to your gums, you'll have a winning look every time!

Jennifer Lopez opts for a dewy look at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards

When seeking makeup inspiration, many people turn to Jennifer Lopez, and for good reason. The Latina superstar is not only renowned for her voice, but her natural beauty. Recently, Lopez showed up to the 2013 Billboard Music Awards in a stunning gold gown with equally eye-pleasing makeup on her face.

Instead of going bold with a bright color on her pout, Lopez chose to keep it simple with a nude lip gloss that gave her mouth a fresh look. On her eyes, Lopez wore brown eyeshadow that offered her peepers some depth. Black eyeliner and mascara topped off her appearance, providing volume to her lashes. Rather than attract attention to her cheeks with blush, she opted for a dewy complexion with concealer and foundation.

If you've always wanted to give your skin the sheen that Lopez had on the red carpet, you don't have to go to extremes. You can easily achieve a moist, hydrated appearance with moisturizer on your face, according to Bella Sugar. Finish it off with a tinted moisturizer, then remove any excess oil with a blotting sheet. This is an easy look you can wear at work as well as at the bar.
