Double The Fun With Two-Tone Eye Makeup

One of the trends sweeping runways around the world is two-tone eye makeup. While pulling off this colorful style may seem difficult, it’s actually quite manageable for anyone who doesn’t mind taking a few risks with their beauty routine.

The first thing you have to do is choose two complementary colors of eyeshadow. Popular combinations include peach and brown, light and dark gray, or even more daring pairings like blue and purple. Another idea is pairing a neutral tone with a brighter eyeshadow, as this can help you achieve a vibrant look. If you’re feeling really adventurous, you may even want to mix eye shimmer or glitter into the process for a fun nighttime look.

You should apply the lighter color to the entire eyelid first, extending all the way up to the eyebrow if it is a light or flesh-colored tone. Then add the darker shade to the lower lid and outer corner of your eye. This can be done in a variety of ways, such as filling in the entire outer half of the lid, applying it in a horizontal V-shape or using the shadow as an eyeliner.

Once you’ve completed all the steps, consider grabbing a setting spray to keep eye shadow from wearing off in the heat and humidity this summer.

About Lia Marchand

Shayna Murphy is a beauty blogger from Amherst, Massachusetts, who can trace her love of beauty products back to the one afternoon when she convinced her grandmother to buy her lime green nail polish. She enjoys cooking (Indian-style dishes are a specialty!), is a bit of a history buff and collects antique milk vases. Shayna reports on the latest makeup, skincare and fashion trends and will try to convince you on a regular basis that yes, you really should wear sunscreen daily. My favorite beauty product is... - Anything containing sea salt. It's probably the most amazing exfoliant I've ever used and it leaves my skin feeling fresh and smoother than ever. Can't leave the house without my... - Lip gloss. The rest of the day can be a total bust, but if I have a great gloss on I feel like at least I've done one thing right! I would describe my style as... - Definitely au naturale. While I love exploring new shades of eyeshadow and liner on special occasions, for me the most important part of any beauty regimen is keeping my skin clear and blemish-free.
