For many people, it's difficult to achieve flawless-looking skin. However, the way concealer, moisturizer and exfoliators are applied can make all the difference when it comes to the appearance of your face. Here are some skincare tips you can use to try to clear up your complexion.
1. Give your skin the TLC it deserves.
If you aren't moisturizing your skin on a regular basis, you're doing it injustice! Even if you have oily skin, make it a priority to hydrate your face at least once per day. A product such as BORGHESE Crema Ristorativo-24 Continuous Hydration Moisturize can give your skin the care it needs.
2. Limit your exposure to hot water.
The Mayo Clinic reports that hot water can be your sensitive skin's worst enemy. Try to limit how much time you spend in hot baths and showers to maintain your skin's moisture.
3. Reduce your stress levels.
There's nothing worse than a breakout, and you may be increasing your risk of getting one if you're constantly stressed out. It's in your best interest to relax and unwind daily – at least for the sake of your complexion. This can potentially reduce your chances of developing zits.

Achieving flawless-looking skin with these 3 tips
Tuesday, December 18th, 2012Three tips for maintaining your youthful look
Monday, December 17th, 2012
How many times have you looked in the mirror and wished you had access to the Fountain of Youth? It happens to the best of us – as time goes on, wrinkles begin to appear and we're no longer the spring chickens of the bunch. However, there are a few tips and tricks you can use when applying concealer, foundation and eye makeup to help you retain your youthful appearance.
1. Use a light primer.
Stylelist.com reports that it's crucial for women with fine lines to use a primer to fill in any obvious wrinkles. Consider a product such as BORGHESE Prima Viso Face Primer to conceal your age and moisturize your skin.
2. Choose a foundation with a yellow tint.
Allure magazine reports that foundation with a yellow tint can help skin of all shades seem more youthful. This hue can brighten and warm up the appearance of your face, creating a younger look.
3. Keep your skin moist.
Hydration is key when it comes to anti-aging. Ideally, you should be moisturizing your skin more than once a day – but specifically when you finish bathing or showering.
Can you combat signs of stress on your face?
Thursday, December 6th, 2012
If you've been struggling to establish a work-life balance as of late, chances are you haven't been getting much sleep due to stress. Luckily, there are a few ways you can give yourself an energetic appearance with the right shimmer powder, eyeliner and concealer. The following tips can help you look fabulous as you work on de-stressing.
1. Stay away from dark eye makeup.
Good Housekeeping magazine reports that dark hues around your eyes can enhance your tired look. Try a product such as Youngblood Crushed Mineral Eyeshadow in a color such as Golden Beryl to make your eyes pop rather than droop.
2. Try bronzer.
Glamour magazine states that bronzer can do wonders for your "I haven't slept in days" appearance. Bronzer can give you a slight glow while distracting from any discolorations and blemishes on your skin.
3. Give your pout some much-needed TLC.
To top off your look, consider putting on a little lip gloss to give your pout some moisture and shine. Lip gloss is perfect for everything from impromptu lunch dates to business meetings as long as you pick a subtle shade.
Three tips for looking fabulous on the beach
Thursday, December 6th, 2012
If you're heading off to a warm, sunny destination for a winter vacation, you likely can't wait to lounge on the beach – but how will you maintain your beautiful looks under the beating sun? Believe it or not, you don't have to leave your foundation, lip gloss and eyeshadow at home just because you're going to be enduring warm weather. Here are some makeup tips for the beach.
1. Choose summery tones.
To avoid looking too dolled up on the white sands when you're supposed to be relaxing, Cosmopolitan magazine recommends going with peach- and pink-toned blush and eye makeup. Consider trying the Colorscience Pro Lip Polish Wand!
2. Keep your skin protected.
When selecting cosmetics for your trip, be sure to opt for makeup that includes SPF to fight off damaging ultraviolet rays while looking fabulous. These days, it's possible to find everything from concealer to moisturizer that protects your skin from the sun.
3. Don't go dark around your eyes.
Save the dramatic black eyeliner for your next night on the town and opt for a lighter shade while you catch some sunlight. Doing so can soften your look, making it more suitable for the beach.
Three steps to a perfect-looking complexion
Saturday, December 1st, 2012
Do you ever get frustrated after doing your makeup because you’re still noticing fine lines, dryness and discoloration? If you’re not doing the right steps before applying your foundation and concealer, you may not end up with the perfect-looking complexion you crave. Here are three steps to help you out.
1. Exfoliate in the shower. According to Allure magazine, exfoliating your face in the shower will help get rid of dead skin cells that could dull your complexion and will also slough off any flakes that could show up later underneath your makeup. Try a facial scrub like Exuviance – Rejuvenating Bionic Scrub.
2. Moisturize. Moisturizing your skin not only prevents dryness, but helps plump up the surface of your complexion, which helps diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Massage a generous amount of a moisturizer like Dermalogica – Intensive Moisture Balance right after getting out of the shower.
3. Prime. Lastly, the finishing touch of your perfecting routine should be using a makeup primer. These products help fill in fine lines and wrinkles and smooth over pores, making the surface of your skin look smoother and more uniform. As an added bonus, primer also helps your makeup last longer!
Do you struggle with zits along your jawline?
Friday, November 30th, 2012
Have you noticed that acne seems to strike your face at exactly the same spot, without fail? For many women, zits, blemishes and other signs of the condition are most noticeable on the jawline, and can often be difficult to avoid.
If you struggle with jawline acne, a purifying skin cleanser can be a great way to soften your complexion and reduce imperfections in your tone. However, if you want to put an end to jawline acne once and for all, it's also important to know how it forms.
According to TotalBeauty.com, jawline acne is linked to hormonal changes in the body and can also sprout up right before you have your period. If you have facial hair along your chin, another cause could be tweezing.
"People really go to town," Ranella Hirsch, a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at Boston University School of Medicine, told Allure magazine's beauty blog. "Often, the hair is not just sticking out, so it's a picking and tweezing combination – they go digging for a hair."
Instead of subjecting your sensitive complexion to the rigors of tweezing, you should consider investing in an at-home waxing kit that will help you remove unsightly hairs without doing damage to your skin!
Are you exfoliating too much?
Thursday, November 29th, 2012
If you're diligent about cleansing and taking care of your skin but are still experiencing complexion issues like breakouts or discoloration, maybe it's because you're over-exfoliating. It might seem like exfoliating your face and getting rid of those dead skin cells would always be a good idea, but the fact of the matter is that doing it too often can do damage.
"The person who is exfoliating too much is also putting on actives [such as Retin-A and salicylic and glycolic acid], is doing facials, is doing microdermabrasion," dermatologist Ranella Hirsch told Allure Magazine.
Hirsch also pointed out that using exfoliating products like these on their own is beneficial, but when you mix them all together, it's doing your skin more harm than good.
The bottom line is that you should be using a gentle cleanser to clean your face twice a day, then exfoliating a couple times a week if your complexon is normal and once a week if your skin is more sensitive. Use a salicylic acid cleanser if your skin is prone to breakouts, and try retinol every other day if fine lines and wrinkles are a problem. Any more than that is likely going overboard.
How many times a day should you be washing your face?
Thursday, November 29th, 2012
There's nothing quite as refreshing as the feeling of a freshly washed face, but are you taking advantage of this fact too much by cleansing more than necessary? Or, do you think you're good to go in the morning as long as you washed your face the night before and it still looks okay? How many times should you really be scrubbing away that dirt and oil?
Thomas E. Rohrer, M.D., FAAD, a board-certified dermatologist in Massachusetts, told Glamour magazine's beauty blog that your goal should be to cleanse with a gentle face wash three times a day at most.
The first time should be in the morning, after you get up. This could be in the shower if you're a morning-wash type of person or at the sink if you shower at night. This will ensure that no oil or dirt that accumulated while you slept mixes with your daily makeup, which could clog pores.
The next time might be after you sweat, whether it's at the gym or because it's hot outside. If you don't have a face wash or water supply around, a facial wipe will do the trick.
Lastly, wash before you hit the hay. This is crucial to make sure that you're not giving environmental toxins, dirt, oil and makeup the chance to wreak havoc overnight!
Reality television star Kendall Jenner stuns on magazine cover
Tuesday, November 27th, 2012
While she may have grown up in the shadow of her glamorous older sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, model and reality television show personality Kendall Jenner has set out to prove she's a star in her own right.
The brown-haired beauty appears on the cover of Miss Vogue Australia in a sophisticated backless, long-sleeved dress and dashing black hat – the latest in a string of magazine covers for the rising young starlet.
With her blemish-free complexion, the fair-skinned Jenner is a great source of inspiration for women eager to recapture the natural lustrousness of their complexions.
A soap-free, anti-aging face wash that helps stimulate cell renewal can be a stellar way to reduce the visible signs of aging, from wrinkles to fine lines to age spots. Best of all, with a face wash packed with powerful botanical extracts, you can be confident that your skin will look more radiant than ever!
But before you call it a day, it's also important to take care of your hands. A moisturizing cream that offers UV protection can keep your palms looking pretty even if you spend all day in the sun.
