How to save your skin post-shaving

Shaving can irritate your skin.Shaving every day can really irritate your skin – especially if you need to run that razor over some of the most sensitive areas of your skin. Ladies know that shaving their legs, armpits and bikini lines can leave them with itchy stubble, dry skin and ingrown hairs, while men often struggle to keep their faces clear of the five o'clock shadow without giving them a vicious razor burn. So how can you save your skin?

While letting your leg hair grow free and wild may be an option in the wintertime, shaving becomes a daily occurrence when the weather turns warm and you break out all those skirts, shorts and dresses. If your legs are screaming for a little comfort, try applying lotion right after you get out of the shower. For an added benefit, try a moisturizer that contains a sunless tanner, so you can achieve that summer glow even if you never get a chance to leave the office. For armpits, pick a deodorant that contains a moisturizer so you can keep your skin quenched.

As for the fellas, shaving your face can leave you with a raw feeling that lasts all morning. Apply some moisturizing aftershave to prevent unsightly razor burn around those kissable cheeks and lips – your face (and girlfriend!) will thank you.

Expert tips to applying skincare products

Expert tips to applying skincare productsStocking up on skincare products is an activity many women enjoy. But even the best formulas will go to waste if they aren’t put on correctly. Patricia Wexler, a New York-based dermatologist, shared some of her top tips for applying products with Allure magazine.

According to Wexler, “the general rule is that light products go under heavy ones. Think about it – if you try to put a thin serum over a thick cream, there’s no way it will penetrate.” But, aside from order, there are other important components to putting on lotions and potions.

Therapeutic products, such as Murad Age-Diffusing Serum, should be applied after showering, as the formulas work best in direct contact with skin, the expert reports. However, women looking to combat a multitude of problems at once should consider purchasing one multi-functional product, like Murad Anti-AgingAcne Treatment, which aims to eliminate breakouts while preventing signs of aging.

Ladies should also remember to read labels, Wexler adds, as certain ingredients have restrictions and work best when paired with other products. Too much of the same product can result in irritation. ADNFCR-3538-ID-19897692-ADNFCR
