As the hottest fall trends slowly make their way into women’s daily beauty routines, there is one hip look that more than a few girls may be intimidated by – the bold lip. However, thanks to a few tips from beauty experts, the look can be easy to achieve.
"As the bright color disappears throughout the day, it will cling to the dry parts for dear life and remain when the rest completely rubs off," makeup artist Emily Kate Warren told StyleList.com. Before applying color, women should exfoliate their lips, coat them with a moisturizing lip balm, and then pat dry.
Industry expert Erin McCarthy recommends that ladies prep their pouts with a lip liner to help establish the shape of their lips and make color last. Girls can choose to follow their lips’ natural shape or extend slightly outside their lip lines to make pouts appear fuller.
When applying color, a brush may be best for extra control. "Starting in the center of the lower lip, apply lipstick…and blend it with a clean brush toward the outer edges of the lip," McCarthy added.
Finally, top lip color with a shiny lip balm or clear gloss for a bit of dimension.
