Whether you've been wearing makeup for years or have only recently begun to dabble in the world of cosmetics, applying smoldering eye makeup can be tricky. Unlike a smoky eye, this look is more subtle, but creates a stare that is just as sultry. But, because appropriate applications can vary significantly depending upon your eye shape, creating the perfect look isn't easy.
However, there is one product that is most likely sitting in your home right now that can make applying eye makeup more simple than ever before – scotch tape.
Celebrity makeup artist Jim Crawford recently shared his secret to applying professional-looking shadow with People magazine. Apply a three-inch piece of tape from the outer corner of your eye to the end of your brow. Dust your lids (and along the inner edge of the tape) with a medium-dark pigment. Then, peel off the adhesive strip and soften the edge of the eyeshadow with your finger.
"This trick is flawless," Crawford told the news source. "You now have a perfectly applied color for your eye shape according to the proportions of your bone structure, so it looks like a pro did it."
