Going Gluten Free

February 14th, 2015 | Contributed by:

Going Gluten Free
The benefits of going gluten free are vast. The foods you eat and the beauty products you use can be seen immediately in your skin health. Read on to see what possibilities await you.

Lets start with the basics; your diet. The foods you put in your body will definitely show on your skin. Unhealthy foods will result in an unhealthy skin appearance which comes as no surprise, right? And we know that healthy foods generally produce a nicer complexion to the skin. There is a way to take it one step further and see even better results. Or maybe you haven’t seen results at all with this technique. The answer very well may be to go gluten free. Gluten is the substance that holds food together, somewhat like a glue, and a surprising amount of individuals are either allergic to this ingredient, or sensitive to it. Unfortunately, gluten is in almost everything, and it will take a bit of effort to avoid it. It’s in almost all breads and also in so many other things from candy to sauces. Really get into the practice of reading your food labels. One of the serious issues gluten can cause is a problem with digestion. When your body can’t effectively digest the foods you’re putting in it, the excess may appear on your skin in the form of breakouts, eczema, psoriasis, or plain irritation. When you remove this substance, your body will not have to work so hard to break down the foods, and your entire digestive systems will get a break. Beautiful skin starts there on the inside.

Once you’ve gotten your diet under control and gluten free, move on to your topical skincare and beauty products. Finding products that exclude this ingredient will assist in further keeping your skin clear, smooth, and beautiful. Start with the EOS Lipbalm since that is one of the products we apply the most during the cold winter months. Even trace amounts of gluten in topical products can be absorbed into the skin and cause problems with someone sensitive to it. Think about lotions, hair products, cosmetics, even nail polish.

Keep in mind that gluten hides in so many unlikely places, and you’ll need to be quite the detective to find it. Start slowly if you have to, but gradually make the switch to being completely gluten free and your body will rush to thank you. Health will abound on the inside and out!

The Only Tool You Need for Gorgeous Sexy Hair

February 13th, 2015 | Contributed by:

The Only Tool You Need for Gorgeous Sexy HairWith the markets overwhelmed with hair products and tools that claim to really work, it can be intimidating to know where to begin in a shopping experience. Around every corner is a new product promising frizz minimization or volume induction, yet never one that seems to tackle all areas of styling needs. Wouldn’t it be nice to get that gorgeous and sexy hair with just one tool? Fortunately, there is a tool out there that makes it possible. With the Four Piece Clip Free Curling System by PYT, gorgeous and healthy hair is just a few curls away.

What It Is?

This inventive and efficient styling tool is optimized to provide a limitless amount of styling options. The results are professional and even salon approved. This flexible styling tool is multifaceted in its design, giving the user a variety of choices to explore. The 4P Clip Free Curling System comes with four interchangeable barrels that are easy to use and simple in design. The variety of barrel sizes include the 13−9 mm, 19 mm, 25−18 mm and 32 mm.

The cord is a handy nine feet long, while it’s also enabled to swivel at a convenient three hundred and sixty degrees. It’s equipped with dual voltage and comes with a heat resistant glove, as well as a one year limited warranty.

Why it’s Great?

Not only is it easy to use, this is a product unique to its market. The variety of styling options that come along with the curling system are only made possible by its interchangeable barrels. Traditional curling irons often induce breakage, creases, and uncomely lines within the hair, but this is prevented when using the PYT FP Clip Free Curling System. Its efficient use cuts down the time it takes to style hair by nearly half the time of its competitors. In ten seconds the curling system is heated and ready to use. It is capable of reaching four hundred degrees Fahrenheit, but the temperature is customizable depending on the user or stylist.

The Tourmaline barrel works as an excellent heat conductor while staying at a steady, consistent temperature. Because of this, curls can last for days without the damaging use of excessive product. Tourmaline also gives off a natural source of infrared heat and negative ions, which help to lock in moisture while creating smooth, shiny curls—frizz free!

The 4P Clip Free Curling System uses negative ions to heat the hair the from the inside out, which exposes the hair to less heat, but also styles the hair in the most efficient way possible. This keeps hair healthy and shiny while minimizing frizz and damage.

Hair is part of a women’s identity, but it shouldn’t take up all her time and money. Find your best hair yet with the 4P Clip Free Curling System and you’ll discover that you too can have red carpet worthy and Hollywood inspired hair. In mere minutes, you’ll have hair that mirrors the work of the professionals. This salon quality styling tool comes to you in the convenience of your own home and your own time, giving you fantastic finish to your lovely locks.

Countdown to Valentine’s Day Series – Perfect Hair

February 12th, 2015 | Contributed by:

Countdown to Valentine's Day Series - Perfect HairEvery woman, whether she’s going on a romantic date or just having a girls’ night out with her friends, wants to look flawless on Valentine’s Day. By now, you’ve probably already picked out your ensemble and decided how you want to wear your hair on the special day. Whether you’re going with a feminine up-do or planning on wearing some voluminous, big sexy curls, the key to making your hair look its best on Valentine’s Day is giving it some TLC in the days leading up to the holiday. Here are some techniques that you can use to prepare your hair for your Valentine’s Day style.

Don’t Over-Shampoo

Healthy hair doesn’t come from daily shampooing. While a lot of us used to think that shampooing your hair until it felt “squeaky clean” was the key to gorgeous locks, the truth is that shampooing your hair too often strips it of natural oils that keep it looking shiny and healthy. Cut back on daily shampooing to get great hair. In the weeks leading up to an event, use a volumizing shampoo like Fekkai Full Blown Volume shampoo to add some body to your roots.

Condition and Treat

It’s a good idea to use a moisturizing deep conditioning treatment a day or so before an event. It will put some moisture back into your hair and diminish the appearance of dried or fried ends. If you want to go the extra inch, use a moisturizing serum or oil on damp hair when you get out of the shower, like the Oscar Blandi Olio di Jasmine Hair Serum. This will help to lock moisture into your hair, giving it luster and shine.

Don’t Stress About Style

If you can’t settle on the right style for Valentine’s Day, don’t stress. Browse the internet for pictures of celebs wearing similar ensembles to the one you have planned to get some inspiration on how you should wear your hair. If you really can’t settle, then remember that big bouncy curls are a perfectly romantic and classic look that always works on Valentine’s Day. All you’ll need is a curling iron with a large barrel and some light hold hairspray. Curl your hair in one-inch sections. When you’ve finished your whole head, rake your fingers through the curls to break them up and give them a soft look. Finish with a misting of the hair spray for a finished product that is gorgeous and romantic.

It can be hard to find the right look for Valentine’s Day. However, if you take the time to prep your hair to ensure that it’s healthy, moisturized and full of body, any look you choose will look beautiful.

Top 5 Beauty Myths Debunked!

January 13th, 2015 | Contributed by:

Top 5 Beauty Myths Debunked! We all know there out there: those beauty myths we all wish were true. In reality, most beauty myths are a scam to get us to spend more money on products and regimens we don’t need. The following are the top five beauty myths – DEBUNKED! Let’s not get fooled again.

Myth 1: Avoid Oils If You Have Oily Skin

We’ve all heard them say it: “You have oily skin? Putting more oil-based products on your body will only make it oilier!” MYTH. On the contrary, using oils on skin that is naturally oily can actually help your skin to slow down its oil production, thus evening out your skin tone in the long run. Rather than using products intended for oily skin, promising to reduce the amount of oil production your body naturally produces, use products that are meant for “dry skin.” The oils in them will help your body to regulate itself.

Myth 2: Always Use the Same Line of Cosmetics

Um, no? Always use the cosmetics that work for you. If one brand works as your foundation but another works better for your cleanser, you do you, girl! All reputable cosmetic lines have professional scientists working to develop their products. Ignore what others tell you and use what you like!

Myth 3: Cutting Your Hair Makes It Grow Longer

Sorry, short haired babes, but it’s just not true. Cutting your hair does not actually make it grow faster. It makes you notice the growth faster. The key to making your hair grow longer faster is all about maintenance. The more you process your hair, the slower it will repair itself and grow. If you take care of your hair (and take those vitamins!), it will grow over time. Time.

Myth 4: Shaving Makes the Hair Come Back Thicker

Shaving, like cutting your hair, makes you notice the growth. It will not make your hair come back thicker, nor will it make it come back darker. It does not decrease the size of the follicle, as waxing does, nor does it increase growth. It just temporarily removes the hair on the surface. Temporarily. Such as sad word.

Myth 5: You Can Make Cellulite Disappear

We wish, right? Although there are creams that will diminish their appearance for a short period of time, once cellulite is visible, it’s visible. As of right now, there is no way to completely eliminate cellulite. So, love yourselves, ladies! There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s genetic. On the plus side? Tanning – albeit unsafe for the skin – does camouflage cellulite very well.

Ways to Incorporate The Pantone Color of the Year- Marsala

January 6th, 2015 | Contributed by:

Ways to Incorporate The Pantone Color of the Year- MarsalaUpdate your 2015 look with Pantone’s Color of the Year, Marsala, a rich earthy red that shares a name with fortified wine and Indian spice. A much warmer hue than 2014’s Vibrant Orchid, Marsala appeared in 2015 runway collections, one of many reasons the influential company chose it. “Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul” explained Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman. Here are some tips to make Marsala work for you in every aspect of beauty and fashion.

Eyes
Darker-skinned ladies can wear a more metallic or pearlized Marsala eyeshadow. On lighter skin, consider it for a smoky-eye treatment, with black winged liner. Pair it with shades of taupe for a more natural look.

Lips
Long used as a lip color, matte brings out the richness of the wine color. A glossy lip in Marsala emphasizes sophistication. The lips should be primed and lined to prevent the color from spreading.

Face
Marsala makes a pretty blush for those with darker skin but can look nice on a lighter skin tone if applied with a light hand in a contour technique.

Hair
Katy Perry debuted a purple Marsala hair color recently but even those who aren’t rock stars can wear the tint. Marsala highlights warm brown hair; consider it an alternative to a blonde highlight.

Nails
The Color of the Year works in any finish. Slick a darker tone on for winter apparel. A sheer dusty color is especially nice for spring. For a party look, wear Marsala and gold as a glitter or accents.

Fashion
Marsala lends itself to plush fabrics like velvet or suede. It is easy to wear in a monotone or layered more harmoniously with complimentary earth tones. The tone also works well with Bohemian looks. For spring and summer fabrics, look for it in raw silk or linen.

This color is used as an accent in men’s fashion: ties, dress shirts or socks. Marsala harmonizes with other warm shades such as bronze or umber brown. Navy emphasizes the sophisticated mood of the color. Pair it with emerald green for a more exotic verve. Trying to wear it in an all-black wardrobe? Add a handbag like Taylor Swift’s and Pashmina scarf in Marsala.

As a final possibility, treat yourself to tech accessories in Marsala. Pantone sells a zip drive and manufacturers jumped on the trend with cell phone cases in the 2015 Color of the Year.

Post Holiday Detox

December 23rd, 2014 | Contributed by:

Post Holiday DetoxMany people recovering from the holiday festivities may need to jumpstart their fitness routine with the help of a post-holiday detox. Detoxes can help a person feel rejuvenated after a lengthy season of indulging. Completing them regularly can restore health. Detoxes promotes much clearer thinking and an overall improved sense of well-being. Detoxing routinely has a slew of other benefits like anti-aging benefits and healthier hair. Everyone can benefit from an occasional detox to get back on track after the holidays.

Diets and detox

Many people examine the dietary options available to aid in detoxing. Some of the top superfoods can be effective with a detox. Cranberries are known to have antibiotic properties and are capable of ridding the body of accumulated bacteria and viruses from the urinary tract. Beets are one of the top foods for a detox because they can cleanse the liver, purify the blood and ward off infection. Broccoli is another power food. Their high concentration of phytochemicals can be quite effective in cleansing the liver. Lemons contain enzymes that when released in the body converts toxins in the system into waste that can be removed from the system. Lemon also balances alkaline levels to better maintain acidity in the system.

Bath soaks for detoxing

Detox baths consisting of baking soda, Epsom salt and lavender make for an incredible detox soak for those battling depression. For those who have arthritis or gout, soaking in an apple cider vinegar bath can do wonders. Soaking in a ginger bath can boost the immune system and also eliminate the likelihood of getting sick when cold symptoms start to appear. An energizing detox bath consisting of Epsom salt and ground ginger can do wonders for a person dealing with fatigue. Seaweed is another detoxing agent that promotes health skin. Seaweed is rich in minerals and is capable of absorbing a substantial amount of toxins.

Preparing for a detox

There are some things that a person should do in order to prepare properly for a detox. People who detox too quickly run the risk of complications like dizziness, constipation, insomnia, hunger, gas and irritability. Alcohol and caffeine should be eliminated on week prior to eliminating a detox. If taking any medications, it is very important to clear a detox with a physician. If a person is a diabetic, a shorter detox is much safer.

A post-holiday detox is a great way to get back on track after dining on delicious foods. Detoxing has been linked to improved energy levels. Less fatigue and fewer issues with bouts of depression have also been linked to detoxing. Whenever a person starts to experience fatigue or starts to feel sicker more often, a combination of detox diets and baths can do the trick.

Stocking Stuffers That Are Sure To Please

December 16th, 2014 | Contributed by:

Stocking Stuffers That Are Sure To Please“It was the night before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.” Gift giving is one of the joys and challenges of Christmastime, and part of gift giving is stuffing those stockings with gifts. Good stocking stuffers should be small, thoughtful, and useful. Gone are the days when stockings were stuffed with primarily candy canes and teddy bears. There is a plethora of options available now for all ages and interests. After a season full of splurging on sweets and running around busily, stuffing stockings full of things that aid in rejuvenating mind and body is a great idea.

Wintertime can be tough on skin and hair, so beauty products to help hydrate and enrich skin will be greatly appreciated. Travel sized lotions and creams are the perfect size for stockings. There are many travel sets that are decorative and can even double as a cute Christmas ornament too. As you choose your lotion and cream stocking stuffers be mindful of the quality of the ingredients. Many of the decorative sets available at this time of year may look and smell pretty, but be severely lacking in healthy ingredients that will improve the health of your skin. Look for beauty sets that look nice, smell nice, and provide vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants to the skin.

Small cosmetics also fit nicely into the stocking and will likely be appreciated by the ladies of your house. Be on the lookout for cute high quality blush palettes, nail polish, lip stick, and mini mascara. As with the moisturizers, it is important not to get so caught up in buying the most sparkly and fancy wrapped package that the ingredients become secondary. Check the ingredient list. Watch out for petroleum based products or items with excess phthalates and chemicals. Seek out cosmetics that not only beautify but also nourish skin with all natural and organic ingredients.

While cosmetics may not be appropriate or appreciated by the men or children of the household, the gift of health and beauty is still beneficial and can be gifted in a fun way. Harsh winter winds do not discriminate and will chap the manliest of lips. A good nutrient rich natural lip gloss is a great stocking stuff for male and female, young and old alike.

Stocking stuffers should be fun and personal. Items such as cozy socks and house slippers will be appreciated when toes are kept toasty warm this winter. Little girls love things such as hair bows and head bands too.

It is not always easy to come up with unique ideas when stuffing stockings, but with a little thoughtfulness and creativity, you can stuff stockings full of fun and healthy items for your loved ones.

Happy Movember!

November 1st, 2014 | Contributed by:

Happy MovemberIt is that time of year again when moustaches rule – the month of Movember. Movember was created by the Movember Foundation which encourages men to grow moustaches in an effort to bring awareness to men’s health as well as to fund research or treatment for prostate and testicular cancer. The organization’s vision is to deliver the message in a fun, unique manner.

Movember Rules

Movember has official rules which can be found on the foundation’s website. The first rule is that participants must sign up on the site to become a “Mo Bro” and begin the first of November with a clean-shaven face. For the entire month, each Mo Bro must grow and groom a moustache and only a moustache. They may not grow beards, goatees or use fake moustaches. As people ask why they are growing such a rich, luscious moustache, each Mo Bro is supposed to begin a conversation on men’s health. In addition, Mo Bro’s are asked to raise money in some manner to help prevent or develop cures for prostate and testicular cancer. Lastly, each Mo Bro must behave as a true gentleman.

Fund Raising Events

There are many options for fund raising during Movember. One suggestion on the website is to plan a Mo Party. Those who choose to host a Mo Party can register on the site and receive a free Mo Party pack in order to raise funds and encourage others to participate in Movember. Some areas have created running of the Mo’s, events that bring Mo Bros and Mo Sistas together. Many other running events are planned throughout the country to promote Movember as well. Shave the Date is the official start to Movember, where participants shave their faces in order to begin growing their Movember ‘stache. Although November 1 is the official Shave the Date, events can be held throughout the month for those who don’t mind getting a late start.

Grooming the Stache

Participating in Movember does not mean growing a big lump of hair under your nose that is unruly and unkempt. The moustache should be well-groomed and tidy, although it should draw attention to the man sporting it. The moustache should be shampooed regularly as bits of food can collect in it which no one really wants to have happen. Work in a tiny bit of conditioner as moustache hair is course. A soft, hot towel is perfect for cleansing the skin under the moustache to avoid drying and itching.

Choose the moustache style from the beginning and be sure to invest in the right tools for the job, such as barber scissors, clippers and fine-toothed combs. Beauty Bridge have everything you need to make your moustache part of a very Happy Movember!
