While many women spend time and money on age-defying products for their faces, it's important to take care of your hands. But how should you go about making your hands appear more youthful?
According to Deborah Sarnoff, a clinical professor of dermatology at New York University, it's not that difficult, as long as you use the right products, O magazine reports.
To treat hyperpigmentation (also known as brown spots or age spots), use a bleaching cream to fade the discolored areas. At night, apply a hand cream that contains retinol, such as Dermalogica AGE Smart Multivitamin Hand and Nail Treatment.
Sarnoff reminds women that SPF is not just for your face – or the summer time. She recommends using an SPF 30 sunscreen on your hands year-round to keep new age spots from appearing.
Finally, don't underestimate the best hand protection of all – gloves and lotion.
"Wear cotton-lined or rubber gloves when you're working around the house and leather gloves when you're outside," the publication reports. "And moisturize like crazy."
