Hair report: How stars make a bang

Bangs are something of a beauty enigma. They look stunning when they're done right, but that task can seem nearly impossible. Styling them can be a major hassle, they fall into your eyes, and then there's the awkward growing out phase. Still, you've likely been eager to try them out yourself – after all, they frame your face, and can completely transform your hairstyle.

With the right hair products and a little inspiration from some of Hollywood's most fashion-forward starlets, you just may be able to bang it out.  Need some inspiration? Consider these celebs' hair-raising styles before you get some bangs yourself.

Sienna Miller
Sienna makes beautiful bangs look just too easy. With a swept-up bun, she keeps things casual by pulling out a few pieces of her around her face. That technique also helps to soften the harsh look of bold bangs.

Zooey Deschanel
Bangs have become somewhat of a signature look for this actress. Her blue eyes always pop from just underneath a thick layer of dark fringe, which she keeps both straight and voluminous. The resulting look, combined with her retro makeup, recalls a 1960s charm.

Reese Witherspoon
This blond's thin, fine locks wouldn't work with thick bangs, so she opts for piecey, delicate ones. Her fringe never looks too heavy, and is especially flattering with gleaming highlights that give them an airy effect.

Alexa Chung
The queen of mussed-up chic, Chung parts her bangs so that they don't get in her eyes, and also leaves them unstyled and unkempt.

Kim Kardashian
Kim K's extra long bangs look alluring grazing the top of her eyelashes. The blunt cut has a striking effect, especially in contrast to the rest of her long locks, which are loose and wavy.

Jennifer Lawrence
If you've ever been curious to try bangs but are too afraid of a bold, bunt cut, take a cue from this actress. She opts for a subtle, sideswept look that's simultaneously understated and elegant.

Liv Tyler
Tyler has been sporting straight, thick bangs for most of her career, and for good reason: The mod look just works for her. Glamour magazine noted that the actress even has a secret technique to make them work for her face. By tucking longer strands around her face behind her ears, she emphasizes her cheeks and visually highlights her flawless bone structure.

Butterscotch nails: The sweetest nail trend to end summer

While your seafoam green and shimmery coral nails worked for the beach, it might be time to look for a new color as summer slowly comes to a close. But what hue could possibly be sunny enough for the final dog days and still transition nicely into fall? The answer is yellow, but not just any shade: a butterscotch that's playful and looks like the sinful dessert topping drizzled on your nails. Funky with a white bikini and boho beautiful with chocolate brown riding boots, the hue is stunning even as the leaves change.

The key to this look is to find a flattering polish

"Yellow is definitely a tough color to pull off," said celebrity manicurist Steph Stone, according to Lifestyle Mirror.

She then explained that proper application is crucial for the trend to work.

"Yellow nail polish is not forgiving, and if applied poorly can look like you just got done playing in finger paint," she told the site.

After putting on your nail primer, Stone advised brushing on a coat of white polish. Try a shade like the Lippmann Collection's Amazing Grace, which will make the yellow appear even richer and brighter. Two layers of butterscotch should be enough, and finish with a high-shine or a matte top coat, depending on your preference.

Your nails will look irresistibly sweet – just try to remember they're not edible.

Whiteout: How to rock the hottest nail trend now

While bright nail colors are undoubtedly fun, white polish can be just as striking. The Telegraph reported that Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna have all been spotted sporting this trend. Whether in stark alabaster, iridescent pearl or a soft ivory, this look can appear innocent or just plain elegant. The best part about white nails? They go with absolutely everything.

Ready to see the light? First, Marie Claire magazine recommended clipping nails to a shorter length. While a square shape is classic, the magazine noted that a rounded oval edge can make fingers appear longer. Next, apply the Turn Back Time Rejuvenating Base Coat by the Lippman Collection, which can minimize yellow stains or any other flaws and ensure the white polish goes on as brightly as possible.

When selecting a shade, Marie Claire pointed out that it can be helpful to consider your skin tone. While brilliant white really stands out against darker skin tones, paler complexions might want to opt for a polish with a pink undertone or some colored glitter so nails don't blend right into the skin. The magazine also suggested painting on some nail art, like polkadots or stripes, for a mod look.

After applying a few coats of your chosen hue, brush on the Lippmann Collection's Umbrella Waterproof Top Coat for strong, shiny, chip-proof nails.

New hairstyles already looming for fall 2013

Now that you have your True makeup and skincare products all set for summer, it's never too soon to start thinking about the fall! There are already hair trends to be taken into consideration for the upcoming season – whether you're ready for them or not.

One style that will be popular this fall and winter is two-toned hair, according to Vogue France. Although it seems a little bold to go with two completely different shades on your head, doing so can give you an edgy look just in time for the cold weather.

Another trend that seems to be growing in popularity is the low ponytail, according to Harper's Bazaar magazine. Whether you're the kind of woman who enjoys keeping your hair tied back or this look would be new for you, keep it in mind this fall. A sleek ponytail can ensure that your locks are out of the way and stylish.

Regardless of which trends you try, don't forget to use a hydrating shampoo and conditioner as cold weather rolls in. This can help your hair stay strong and frizz-free in the fall and winter.

3 hot eyeliner trends worth nothing this season

Eyeliner is a must for most women, especially those who want to make their eyes appear larger and more awake. However, it can become boring to use the same color and technique every day. That being said, now is the perfect time to take advantage of new makeup trends, specifically ones pertaining to eyeliner. Here are some hot styles that have emerged from the runways in spring 2013.

1. Winged eyeliner
If you have liquid eyeliner sitting in your makeup bag, Harper's Bazaar magazine recommended whipping it out and trying a winged look this season. It's sexy as well as bold, making it ideal for hot dates or weekend outings with the girls.

2. Deep black eyeliner
Now isn't the time to play conservative and opt for brown eyeliner – Elle magazine stated that black eyeliner is all the rage on the runways. Even if you only view black as an after-hours color, more women are wearing it casually during the daytime.

3. Colorful eyeliner
Celebrities are doing it, so why can't you? Colorful eyeliner can give you a unique look that turns heads wherever you go!

Crystals and glitter can brighten up any face

One trend that has been booming in recent months is glitter, and it isn’t going away any time soon. Elle magazine claims that it’s all about sparkling these days, whether you have a cocktail party to attend or you’re going to another formal event. Specifically, more models are being seen with gemstones on everything from their eyelids to their pouts, replacing lipstick and eyeshadow – for at least the time being.

But is it really practical to go all-out with gems and glitter? What if you’re only getting ready to go to work?

“Less is more,” celebrity makeup artist Mary Phillips told the news source, claiming that crystals might be best reserved for runway shows. “Unless it’s for a performance, I wouldn’t have your entire lips crystalled.”

In some instances, you might feel downright uncomfortable wearing any type of makeup that gives you some shine. However, you don’t need to be a teenager to flaunt this look in a stylish manner. If you’re afraid of how glitter might appear on your face, Marie Claire magazine recommends taking it slowly and applying it to your eyelids first. Then, you can move on to shimmery blush and lip gloss.

Give it one more season before you ditch your dark mascara and eyeshadow for something brighter!

Finally, beautiful manicures also seemed to be a trend at the gala. Think studs and neon nail polish for summer! Not sure how to take advantage of this style? Harper’s Bazaar magazine claims that it’s as easy as wearing a little glitter on your fingers or opting for contrasting colors.

Do you know what's hot in the beauty industry?

These days, it’s all about finding the hottest beauty products and True makeup to maintain your overall appearance, but how do you know what’s worth buying? Trends in the cosmetics world are constantly changing, meaning it can be challenging to know which styles you should buy into today. Allure magazine recently conducted a little research to make it easier on those who want to stay on top of trends.

Experts found that about 93 percent of women find aging to be a primary concern, which means that it may be worth picking up some anti-wrinkle serums when you spot them. About 12 percent of women use Angelina Jolie as their beauty inspiration, claiming she has ideal physical traits. Before you get rid of your plumping lip gloss, take this stat into consideration!

Additionally, both men and women agreed in the Allure study that blondes and brunettes are classy as well as sexy – keep it simple before you go crazy with your hair color.

Afraid of missing the mark? Complex magazine claims that it might simply be best to avoid style mistakes rather than try to adopt new ones. For instance, steering clear of bright, bold colors and too many accessories can help you ensure that you stay fashionable regardless of what’s trending.

Nail art reigns supreme as 2013 rolls on

You might already have plenty of BABOR cosmetics and True makeup to keep your skin looking beautiful, but what about your nails? Just because you don’t spend most of your days looking down at your fingers doesn’t mean that they don’t deserve some TLC! In fact, nail art is becoming incredibly popular as 2013 rolls on.

One trend that’s already been seen on runways this year is shiny manicures, according to Glamour magazine. This means opting for a simple nail polish to show off your tips in addition to giving it some pizzazz with a flashy top coat. If you don’t want to go crazy with your nails, this might be just the style for you.

Other notable trends that are popping up include rhinestones and detailed graphics, according to the Lawrence Journal-World. Everyone from teens to soccer moms are asking for these types of manicures to transform their nails into accessories.

If you want to go glam with your nails this season, just remember to take care of your nails along the way. Give them a break from nail polish and let them breathe once in a while. Treat your cuticles with moisturizer to keep them in tip-top shape.

3 makeup trends to avoid this spring and summer

Chances are, you’ve already started stocking up on cosmetics for spring and summer, but trends are always changing. That being said, here are some makeup tips and items worth ditching as the warm weather rolls in, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

1. Hot pink eyeshadow
It might look terrific on runway models, but hot pink eyeshadow has no place on everyday women, even when they need to look their best for a big outing.

2. Bare lashes
Even if you think you aren’t going to run into anyone you know while you’re running errands, don’t buy into this trend – mascara is your friend! Not to mention, it only takes a couple of minutes to apply.

3. Neutral lips
One woman who’s guilty of this is Jennifer Garner – she showed up to the 2013 Oscars with eye-popping jewelry, but lackluster makeup. Consider going bold with a vivid lip color if you want to loo hot this season.

Vogue magazine recommends taking advantage of trends such as brown eye makeup to fall in line with this season’s trends. Doing so in combination with avoiding these faux pas can help you ensure that you always look your best this spring and summer.
