Tips for rocking bold brows

Move over, pencil-thin eyebrows: bold is back. Though you might have been too scared to rock this trend, it’s time to embrace it. Not only have runway models and celebs alike been sporting thicker shapes, but the style can be incredibly striking and truly eyebrow-raising. Still hesitant to let them grow out for fear of giving up your neat look? Just follow these simple tips for full, polished brows.

First, you need to figure out what brow design is best for your face shape. For example, round faces look better with a high arch, while flatter, horizontal shapes look better on long faces.

Next, Cosmopolitan magazine explained that it’s crucial to groom your brows with a brow brush. Brushing in an upward moment will emphasize a high peak. Next, use a neutral colored brow pencil to fill in and define the shape. When choosing a shade, it can be helpful to mix colors. Allure magazine explained that darker hues help to emphasize the arch at the center of the brow, while lighter colors are great for softening up the shape at the outer edges.

Cosmopolitan noted that drawing upward results in a far more natural look because that’s the direction that your hair grows in. Keep building the pencil until the color is as bold as you’re willing to make it. Allure recommended applying the pigment more heavily on the outer two-thirds of your brows. Finally, pick up your brow brush again and graze it gently across the hair to soften the pigment.

Make orange lips yours this season

Make orange lips yours this season

While not a traditional lip shade, orange lips have been emerging everywhere from the red carpet to the runway – and the look is more versatile than you might think. Makeup artist Gucci Westman told Allure Magazine that bright orange gives a "warm, sunny effect." She advised sticking with matte shades, as the color is already bold enough without a sparkle or shimmer. Particularly with a summer tan, this hue can infuse the right amount of color with everything from denim during the day to a cocktail dress in the evening.

If you're sporting the trend for the first time, try sheer lipstick like Paula Dorf's Lip Color Sheer Tint in Rhythm. The formula has SPF15 and hydrates and conditions lips so the color stays smooth and shiny. It's the perfect amount of pigment without being too overpowering.

And if you're eager to join the tangerine craze but are looking to treat lips at the same time, Borghese's B Moisture Advanced Care Lipcolour in Misto Mandarino is ideal. These orange lipsticks contain beta vera, vitamin E and the Acqua di Vita Complex which keep lips moisturized for more long-lasting color. As an added benefit, the product strengthens lips and encourages the production of collagen for a plumping effect.

No matter your skin tone or personal style, orange lips can be yours this summer with the right product and shade.

Double the fun with two-tone eye makeup

One of the trends sweeping runways around the world is two-tone eye makeup. While pulling off this colorful style may seem difficult, it's actually quite manageable for anyone who doesn't mind taking a few risks with their beauty routine.

The first thing you have to do is choose two complementary colors of eyeshadow. Popular combinations include peach and brown, light and dark gray, or even more daring pairings like blue and purple. Another idea is pairing a neutral tone with a brighter eyeshadow, as this can help you achieve a vibrant look. If you're feeling really adventurous, you may even want to mix eye shimmer or glitter into the process for a fun nighttime look.

You should apply the lighter color to the entire eyelid first, extending all the way up to the eyebrow if it is a light or flesh-colored tone. Then add the darker shade to the lower lid and outer corner of your eye. This can be done in a variety of ways, such as filling in the entire outer half of the lid, applying it in a horizontal V-shape or using the shadow as an eyeliner

Once you've completed all the steps, consider grabbing a setting spray to keep eye shadow from wearing off in the heat and humidity this summer.

Kate Hudson wows with bold makeup

All eyes were on Kate Hudson as the star walked the red carpet at the first annual Novak Djokovic Gala in London July 8. The actress reveled in the spotlight thanks to her flawless makeup, which combined dark eye makeup with a lighter, more playful shade of lip color.

Hudson let her green eyes stand out with the help of black eyeliner and dark eyeshadow. She outlined her entire eye with the bold liner, complementing it with slightly lighter, purple-gray shadow framing her eyes. This unique smokey eye was perfectly done and certainly had the actress looking mysterious.

Many celebrities have rocked bright lips recently, and Hudson must have taken note of this trend. Her fuchsia lipstick was a great balance with her dark eyes, and it worked without becoming too bright and clashing with the rest of her look.

The dramatic makeup meshed well with her edgy gray dress. Thanks to a studded clutch and asymmetrical hemline, there was a distinct punk feel to the ensemble, which Hudson carried through in her makeup. Although the actress stuck to dark tones, the fun nature of the lipstick kept her appearance from becoming too goth and helped to make her one of the best dressed of the night.

Try eye-popping neon colors on your lips

One of the most attention-grabbing trends taking hold this summer is the presence of neon colors. While hot pinks, lime greens, aqua blues and bright yellows are making strides in the fashion world, they're also becoming more prevalent in makeup – especially for lips.

The trend of bright lipstick may have started earlier this year, but it's beginning to gain popularity with celebrities and the general public. You can easily try out this fad by investing in a neon lipstick. After you treat your lips to your favorite lip serum or repairing balm, outline them with a lip liner and smudge the pencil marks. Then you can fill in the rest with your chosen neon color for a look that is sure to turn heads.

Opting for long-lasting lipsticks or ones with a matte finish can go a long way in creating a polished end result.

A good tip to keep in mind is that these neon lip colors generally work best with nude makeup, so as not to overpower the face. You may also want to carefully pick out an outfit to go along with the neon color, with neutrals being the best option for creating balance in a look.

Khloe Kardashian Odom rocks red lips

Khloe Kardashian Odom knows how to show off her lips. Whether it’s with bright colors or more subdued tones, the member of the Kardashian clan has always done her best to embrace the hottest makeup trends. The television personality and reality star has previously made waves for her nude lipstick choices, but she recently rocked a bold red shade at a launch of one of her family’s business ventures. Her red lipstick was perfectly applied to show off her plump pout.

To accent her bold lip choice, Kardashian Odom created a smokey eye with the help of brown eyeliner and just the right amount of brown eyeshadow. The effect set off her big brown eyes without mixing too much contrasting color into her makeup, and she was sure to maintain a natural look throughout the rest of her face, balancing out her makeup and emulating a classic, old-Hollywood elegance.

This vintage style was carried through to Kardashian Odom’s hairstyle, which featured soft waves swept to one side of her face. To incorporate a modern edge into the look, she wore it all with the popular ombre coloring.

Kate Walsh knows how to rock bright lipstick

How many times have you looked at a celebrity and wished you could have the same flawless appearance? Kate Walsh is admired by many women who have this goal, and for good reason. The actress, who's most notable for her role on "Private Practice," still knows how to turn heads on the red carpet.

This is just what she did when she showed up to the premiere of "Some Girl(s)" in Los Angeles. Walsh, who seemingly wanted to fall in line with recent trends, chose to go with little makeup. She wore a glossy, subtle pink lipstick on her pout and opted for dark eyeliner around her peepers. However, Walsh appeared to skip the eyeshadow and didn't wear much blush – if any at all. Despite going fairly conservative, she still looked beautiful as she waved to onlookers from the red carpet.

As Walsh proved, all you need is a little color on your pout to make a bold statement. To wear lipstick like a pro, Cosmopolitan magazine recommended opting for a bright hue to complement a dark ensemble. Doing so can bring out the best in your outfit.

Gwen Stefani confidently wears red on her pout to movie premiere

One singer who's had her fair share of red carpet events to attend is Gwen Stefani. Since her illustrious career began with No Doubt, she's been touring the world, getting married, having children and running a fashion line in between. Recently, she made time to attend the premiere of "Monsters University" with her family and looked fabulous while doing so.

Stefani didn't show much of her peepers while she was on the red carpet, donning blue sunglasses. However, the rest of her face was visible, including her pout, which was coated in a vibrant red lipstick. It seems that the pop star is making it a point to capitalize on this trend – bold lipstick. Stefani is one of many women around Hollywood who's doing so and welcoming the summer season.

If you're interested in the idea of wearing red lipstick but you think it might be too bold, there are a couple of ways you can ensure that you're never giving off the wrong impression. The Huffington Post recommended exfoliating your lips before applying the lipstick. Then, add a coat of concealer onto your pout to give yourself a solid base.
