Whether you slick on a fruit-hued lip gloss or a bold shade of nail polish, infusing your look with a punch of color is always fun. And, it looks like some of Hollywood’s most glamorous starlets are opting to add some pizazz with colorful eye makeup.
However, unlike so many celebrity trends that border on over-the-top, this look is subtle enough for a fun night out, whatever the occasion may be.
At last weekend’s Teen Choice Awards, Glee star Lea Michele dazzled in a sparkling green and nude dress. It was her sultry stare, however, that really wowed the crowd. Michele dusted her lids with a kelly green shadow, and kept the rest of the eye makeup minimal, using little more than a touch of black liner and black mascara.
Leighton Meester embraced this trend at the awards show as well, though she opted for a slightly different application. Instead of adding color with shadow, the Gossip Girl donned a simple streak of blue liquid liner, and paired the colorful swipe with a nude eye shimmer and a bit of liner on her eyes’ inside corners.
To keep this trend from becoming overwhelming, remember to follow Michele and Meester’s leads – keep the color carefully confined to a small section of your lid and accompany it with little more than a coat of mascara.
