Butterscotch nails: The sweetest nail trend to end summer

While your seafoam green and shimmery coral nails worked for the beach, it might be time to look for a new color as summer slowly comes to a close. But what hue could possibly be sunny enough for the final dog days and still transition nicely into fall? The answer is yellow, but not just any shade: a butterscotch that's playful and looks like the sinful dessert topping drizzled on your nails. Funky with a white bikini and boho beautiful with chocolate brown riding boots, the hue is stunning even as the leaves change.

The key to this look is to find a flattering polish

"Yellow is definitely a tough color to pull off," said celebrity manicurist Steph Stone, according to Lifestyle Mirror.

She then explained that proper application is crucial for the trend to work.

"Yellow nail polish is not forgiving, and if applied poorly can look like you just got done playing in finger paint," she told the site.

After putting on your nail primer, Stone advised brushing on a coat of white polish. Try a shade like the Lippmann Collection's Amazing Grace, which will make the yellow appear even richer and brighter. Two layers of butterscotch should be enough, and finish with a high-shine or a matte top coat, depending on your preference.

Your nails will look irresistibly sweet – just try to remember they're not edible.

Flowing, carefree curls are a glamorous look for anyone who spends her days at the beach, but sometimes, people just want to pull their hair back as they frolic on the shore – and when this urge strikes, braids can be a great option.

Fishtail braids are a great way to wear a braid while adding some sophistication to the look. Other options include waterfall braids, which can help you show off the beach hair while keeping it out of your face, as well as classic plaits.

No matter what style you choose, you will want to make sure your hair conditioner is capable revitalizing hair that has been damaged by the sun or sea. Bonus: A good conditioner that detangles will not only make it easier to weave your locks into perfect braids, but can also help you undo your 'do at the end of the day.

Complement bright lipstick with a pearly-white smile

You already know that neon lipstick is one of the hottest summer makeup trends – but do you know all about the tricks you can use to pull off this look? While matching the lip color to your outfit and face makeup is certainly important, one of the most effective things you can do to set off your bright lips is to make sure your teeth are an equally brilliant shade of white.

Not much will complement neon hues more than a pearly white teeth, and you can achieve this by investing in teeth whitening systems designed to give you all the tools you need to feel confident in your smile. Before you try one of the gels, rinses or whitening toothpastes, there are a few things you should know.

For one, there's a difference between surface whiteners and teeth bleaches. Bleaches actually change the color of the tooth and should be done in a dentist's office with proper supervision. Although store-bought versions of this are out there, you should still talk to a dentist before using them in case there are any concerns about your teeth.

Surface whiteners, however, only remove stains from the tooth surface and are typically available in gels or pastes that can be used as part of a home care system with ease.

3 ways to help your makeup beat the summer heat

If you love summer but you don't like the way it affects your appearance, you're not alone! Many women struggle to maintain their glamorous looks once the warm weather arrives. Allure magazine recommended keeping it simple with concealer or foundation to hide your flaws – nothing else. Don't feel obligated to pile on the makeup when it's humid outside. Doing so will make you feel uncomfortable, and it'll show on the surface of your skin.

2. Use a matte eyeshadow
The Huffington Post suggested using a matte eyeshadow to ensure that color stays on your lids, even when it's hotter than you can handle outside. Of course, don't forget to use primer to prevent running and creases!

3. Waterproof it
If possible, look for waterproof mascara and other smudge-proof makeup to wear during the summer. These cosmetics are specifically designed for long wear, meaning you won't have to concern yourself with whether your makeup is melting off of your face in the heat.

Do you have your summer beauty essentials yet?For many people, Memorial Day marks the beginning of the summer season, which means you might soon be gearing up for barbecues, beach outings, poolside gatherings or other warm-weather activities. Because you’ll likely be showing off more skin, it might be necessary to update your beauty regimen to ensure that you’re looking your best. Here are several ways you can take your look from spring to summer in no time at all!

1. Go for a brighter nail polish. Pretty pastels are perfect for spring, but summer calls for bold, vibrant shades that will get your digits some serious attention. Lippmann Collection – Nail Lacquers has a variety of eye-catching hues that will be sure to match your colorful summer fashions and accessories. Look for citrusy shades like orange, yellow and lime green, or branch into fuchsia, teal or magenta territory.

2. Choose a lighter fragrance. Perfumes tend to smell stronger in the heat, which means you’ll likely need a lighter scent to carry you through the summer months. Juicy Couture – Viva La Juicy For Women Eau de Parfum Spray might be the perfect choice, as it’s full of wildberry, honeysuckle, mandarin, gardenia and jasmine notes.

3. Switch to a tinted moisturizer. If your skin’s clear, you probably don’t need the heavy coverage that foundation provides. Instead of thick formulas that can melt off or cake up in the heat, use a tinted moisturizer like Dermalogica – Sheer Tint Moisture SPF 15. It’ll protect your face while offering light coverage to ensure an even complexion.

4. Stock up on blotting papers. When you’re outside in the sun, you’re likely to get a bit sweaty and oily, which means blotting papers are a must. Jane Iredale – Facial Blotting Papers will soak up that excess moisture without smudging your makeup, and they come in a chic gold case that’ll fit right into your beach bag!

5. Upgrade your hairstyle. Whether it’s chopping off a few inches, lightening up your color or experimenting with trendy neon highlights, your hair could definitely use a change for summertime. Whichever style you choose, be sure to pick up haircare products that meet your tresses’ needs.

6. Go bronze. To give your skin a healthy glow without putting it at risk for sun damage, get a bronzer to enhance your complexion. Too Faced – Caribbean in a Compact is a great choice that will have you looking a bit tanner in no time. Just dust it onto the areas of your face that would naturally darken in the sun – like your cheekbones, forehead and nose.

7. Banish cellulite. There’s nothing like cellulite to make you feel uncomfortable in your short shorts, miniskirts and bathing suits. Luckily, products like BABOR – Body Line Thermal STOP3 Cellulite Gel can help improve the appearance of your cellulite-prone areas. It might also help to dry brush the area before each shower and use an exfoliant with caffeine to improve blood flow to the area.

8. Pick up a vibrant lipstick. For balmy nights out, there’s nothing like a bright pout to amp up your look. Try BORGHESE – B Moisture Advanced Care Lipcolour in Pinkissima or Apricotta. Make it matte with translucent powder or shiny with a clear lip gloss.

9. Achieve touchable legs. Use MOOM – Express Pre Waxed Strips for Legs & Body to get smooth, soft legs that are free of razor burn. Moisturize afterward for extra hydration.

10. Sunblock. You know you’ll need it – so stock up on a great SPF product that’s long-lasting and provides full coverage.
