Get Your Home Ready for Fall

Fall brings forth a changing of outdoor foliage into stunning yellow, gold, and orange colors. As the world moves into the next season, your home should also make the transition. The right decorations in a home can make it cozy and inviting, while the wrong furnishings will make your fall life one of solitude.

The Kitchen

When you’ve made the decision to begin changing your home to match Mother Nature’s will, you should start with the decoration in the kitchen. Remove any remnants of summer from your cabinets, counters, and tables. Obviously, you don’t need to repaint the kitchen for a seasonal makeover, but it’s always an option.
You may also find your dining centerpiece needs to be changed. You can create a simple centerpiece by purchasing some gold and orange colored, artificial leaves. Use a glue gun to hold the pieces together in the shape of a wreath. Many people find candles, such as GloMineral’s Ambience candle, fitting in the center of the wreath.

To further enhance the kitchen’s appearance, purchase a warm-toned tablecloth. You can find fall themed tablecloths available in many stores. If you don’t want to be changing things after Halloween, it’s best to pick a cloth that doesn’t have any Halloween images or symbols on it. Fall colors will last the whole season, but the holidays change rapidly during this time of year. Purchase new golden or orange seat cushions for wooden kitchen chairs. If the chair has a bold, colored fabric covering already, such as green, purple, or blue, you should consider purchasing new chair coverings to completely tie the fall-theme together.

The Living Room

If you have an existing rug in the living room, consider swapping it with a brown, reddish, orange, or golden colored rug. This will bring guest’s attention to the living room. Make a second centerpiece, similar to the one for the kitchen table, to place on the center of the coffee table. Change current throws and pillows on the sofa to fall colors. Make this decision based upon the color of your furniture. Don’t change the color to something that is visually unappealing. Remove anything that evokes thoughts of the summer, such as sea-shells, ocean-scents, or unnecessary vacation photographs.

Bathrooms

Transforming the bathroom is easy. Change out the shower curtain and rugs with others containing fall colors. Add some of the artificial, fall foliage around the interior door frame of the bathroom. One of the most well-know fall scents is apples, and the JAQUA – Apple Tart Soy Candle works excellently in bathrooms. Swap out existing towels with white or strong orange towels.

Decorating a home for the changing seasons can be overwhelming if you do not have the right tools. However, making some minor changes to the accessories in the kitchen, living room, and bathrooms will bring the fall season into your home easily.
