When summer rolls around, everyone wants to look great. The ability to put on a bikini and look absolutely hot is one of the underrated simple pleasures of life. Achieving it, however, can be a bit more difficult. Despite what television advertisements might tell you, there is no such thing as spot reduction – to lose weight and get toned, you must work your entire body at once. Here are some of the best classes for doing so.
Zumba is a fun, upbeat way of losing weight. After all, who doesn’t enjoy dancing? However, in this case, the dance will work your entire body from head to toe. Zumba’s frequent, high energy movements will whip the average person into a sweat in no time at all, particularly targeting the glutes, legs, and core.
Spinning classes are one of the more intensive workouts available. Not only do they test physical stamina, but they tone the legs and thighs in a way that few other classes can hope to do. However, cycling classes also provide one of the most intense cardio workouts anyone could hope to get. Attending these two to three times per week will yield results very quickly.
HIIT stands for high intensity interval training. This is the sort of exercise a person could do on their own; periods of all-out exertion interspersed with normal exercise. For instance, you jog for two minutes on a treadmill, then go flat out for one minute, then jog for two more minutes before going all out again. This intensity works the body out and burns fat very quickly, but also cuts down the amount of time you need to spend in a gym. HIIT will leave you completely exhausted, but also satisfied.
Any of these three classes will yield results, but it will take time. Begin working out around two months prior to summer; you can expect to reasonably lose around 2 pounds of fat per week without the loss of any muscle. Remember, exercise is just one part of it – you need to maintain a proper diet, as well.
