This week we were so excited to have our Dermalogica training here at Beauty Bridge! The Dermalogica line is super popular with our customers and has many different products to address pretty much any concern one could have. Our trainer, Ariel, was extremely knowledgeable and is both an esthetician and a Dermalogica teacher who teaches at the Institute in New York. She made everything really easy to understand and even gave us some pointers on her favorite product concoctions as the products can be combined in many ways.

The line has eight systems, all made to address concerns of the client that falls in that category and all can be boosted by products from a different range. The line was founded by an esthetician so it focuses on skin health. This means there are no fragrances, mineral oil, chemicals, lanolin or any other ingredients that could compromise the skin or cause allergic reactions. In fact some of the products smell so good you would want to bathe in them!

The most basic system, and the one Ariel suggested we start with, is the Daily Skin Health. The products in the line are the essentials for your everyday skin routine. They keep your skin clean, healthy and moisturized so you can then tackle more intense concerns like aging or breakouts.

The next line is the Age Smart. This line aims to slow down the process of aging before it starts. It has scientifically advanced ingredients that have been proven to stop aging triggers before they start. This line contains retinols, which we all know are the holy grail of ingredients for skin aging, that have been buffered so they do not cause any stinging, peeling or irritation.

The Ultracalming line contains wonderful ingredients like Lavender and Chamomile to soothe the skin and can be used pretty much by anybody but is most beneficial to ultrasensitive skin. We especially loved this line for the wonderful smell and universal usage.

The Medibac and Clear Start lines are both for acne and Ariel said they can both be mixed and matched since sometimes the Medibac line is a little bit stronger than the Clear Start. The Medibac is generally more for adult acne while the Clear Start is for teenage acne. I especially loved the Clearing Booster from the Medibac line because you can add it to any moisturizer and it automatically makes it an acne fighting product.

The Chroma-White line is truly wonderful. It brightens any pigmentation without being harsh or damaging the skin which can lead to premature aging. It does not bleach or lighten the skin, rather brightens it so it is suitable for all skin colors and types. With this system however we were told you have to be very patient since pigmentation is one of the harder things to get rid of in the skin.

Dermalogica also has bodycare products, suncare and moisture tints, all made to compliment the effects you are getting from your skincare products.

We truly enjoyed our training with Ariel and learned a lot about this wonderful line. We can now diagnose and make skin recommendations to all of our wonderful customers and maybe do a little shopping for ourselves!
