Expert Advice To Preventing Blackheads
There are few skin imperfections more frustrating than blackheads – they can be unsightly, hard to conceal and painful. Unfortunately, they are also incredibly common. Luckily, the blemishes don’t have to be a headache to treat.
The first step is washing your face to prevent breakouts. Esthetician Lena Bratschi told TotalBeauty.com that women should use a a salicylic acid-based cleanser, such as Dermalogica mediBac Clearing Clearing Skin Wash, which will serve as antibacterial and anti-inflammatory.
After cleansing the skin, use an alcohol-free toner that contains totarol to close pores and restore your skin’s pH balance. Bratschi suggests that women follow with an oil-free moisturizer that contains Hyaluronic acid, like Dermalogica Active Moist, which will deeply hydrate the skin.
The dermatologist also revealed that manual exfoliation is the key to preventing blackheads, and recommends that gals use a facial scrub twice a week (no more, no less). Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant will rid your face of skin-dulling residue and promote cell renewal.
Finally, treat problem areas with a serum such as Dermalogica mediBac Concealing Spot Treatment. The product contains niacinamide, which Bratschi claims is most effective when treating blackheads as it will decrease oiliness.
