Fall 2013 Makeup Trend: The Cat’s Meow
There was a range of makeup trends on Fall 2013 runways, from a raspberry smoky eye, to ever-chic wet, glossy lips. One look that recalls mod style is making a comeback, though: the cat eye.
Harper’s Bazaar noted that designers like Kenzo and Anna Sui had models sporting the iconic 1960s look, while Christian Dior and Jason Wu added icy blue and violet to give the cat eye a flash of color and an updated flair.
To get the winged shape yourself, start with the Pixi Eye Bright Kit for a neutral base, which will give you the effect of a good night’s sleep with a unique combination of a brightener, cover up and multi-purpose cream highlighter that can hide dark circles and imperfections. Next, define the eye from the inner corner outward with the bold Borghese Eye Accento Pencil in Black Vellura, extending outward and upward slightly at the edge. Gently tracing a line from the outer corner of the bottom lashline inward will create an even more dramatic impact.
After creating definition with the pencil, it’s important to later on a liquid formula, like the waterproof Pixi Lash Line Ink in black silk. The flexible precision tip makes it easier to apply a flawless cat-eye with no feathering.
Finally, finish with a sweep of Superiore State-of-the-Art Waterproof Mascara by Borghese. A single coat is enough to lengthen, separate and curl your lashes for the coyest cat effect.
