If the thought of suddenly growing inches upon inches of thick, luxurious hair sounds like a dream come true, you’re in luck. Today’s hair extensions are more natural looking than ever, and they’re often easy to apply – especially the clip-in variety. But how can you make sure that your extensions blend in with your own hair? Here are a few tips from hairstylist Ken Paves, who gave advice to Allure Magazine.

1. Rough it up. The combs in the extension might slip out if your hair is naturally fine or smooth, which means that a good dose of hairspray like Leonor Greyl – Structure Naturelle is key. You’ll also need to tease the area where you’re going to be putting in the clips.

2. Boost body. If your hair is thin or fine, you’ll need some volume on your side in order to hide the clips. Leonor Greyl – Mousse Au Lotus Volumatrice can add texture and body that will help you tease the areas that are above and below the extensions, successfully masking them.

3. Style both. Your hair and your extensions should be styled the same, so whether you’re blowdrying, curling, flat ironing, braiding or waving, you’ll need to do it to your entire head of hair – fake and natural. This should blend the two seamlessly.
