While treating dull winter skin may require a steady regiment of lotions and creams, women may also want to pick up a few cosmetics to perk up their complexion.

While powder-based concealers can be great for light coverage in the summertime, industry expert Jillian Dempsey recently told Self magazine that women should use hydrating foundations in the colder months.

Gals who prefer light coverage year-round but need a formula that boasts more moisturizing elements than a powder product in the winter can mix a few drops of liquid foundation into their daily face lotion to create their own sheer, tinted moisturizer.

“Instead of a bright blush (which can make you look as if you have wind burn), switch the a dusty pink in a creamy formula,” the publication reports. “It will help offset too-red cheeks and dryness.

Additionally, Dempsey recommends wearing a berry-colored lip gloss, as sheer plum shades will complement a darker wardrobe without seeming too harsh.

Youngblood offers a variety of hydrating cosmetics, like Youngblood Lip Gloss and Liquid Mineral Foundation, perfect for adding color to winter skin. Jane Iredale In Touch Cream Blush Stick will add a natural flush to your face and provide a dewy, soft finish.
