Washing your face may be an important component to keeping a healthy-looking complexion, but with the amount of cleansers available, it can be hard to figure out which type of product is best for your face.

According to Gertrude Katatumba, a beauty therapist, selecting the appropriate cleanser for your skin type is imperative. “People with dry and sensitive skin need to choose a cleanser that protects the oil content of their skin…that can help balance their oil properties to re-hydrate and moisturize the skin,” she told the Daily Monitor. Murad Moisture Rich Cleanser includes Sodium PCA to hydrate the skin, and chamomile and white ginger to soothe dry skin and help prevent moisture loss.

Conversely, women with oily skin should look for a face wash that removes excess oil from glands. Ahava Purifying Gel for Oily Skin is formulated to prevent the secretion of too much sebum, the oily substance that can cause breakouts.

Typically, you don’t know how a cleanser will react with your skin until you try it. But Katatumba warned that you should immediately cease using a product if skin conditions worsen. “A good cleanser will not disturb the pH balance of your skin,” she added. “It will keep [your complexion] healthy and fresh.”ADNFCR-3538-ID-19915588-ADNFCR
