Makeup trends usually give us a chance to add a new technique to the methods that are already so ingrained in our repertoire. This means that if you’re a bronzer pro, prepare to learn a thing or two this spring.

“Bronzer is back, as well as heavily sculpted cheekbones and lots of highlights – kind of like a Raquel Welch throwback look,” makeup artist Cicely Gordon told The Des Moines Register.

If you’re a fan of the old sweep-it-on technique, consider becoming a bit more strategic with your application.

Learn the target areas for bronzer – these are essentially the spots that the sun would naturally hit on your face – and aim to be precise when you put it on. We’re talking the top of your forehead, near your temples, along your cheekbone and down your nose.

To really make your bronzer pop, add a touch of rosy blush on the apples of your cheeks and finish with some highlighting cream on your browbones.
