When you go out for a round of drinks with your girlfriends, the last thing on your mind is likely the signs of aging on your face. However, indulging in a little liquor might be making you look older than you really are, meaning you might want to keep tabs on how much you drink on a regular basis, according to StyleList magazine.

By sipping on alcohol frequently, you may be causing your skin to dry out. This can instantly make wrinkles and fine lines seem more evident, which can add years to your appearance. Alcohol can also rob your body of nutrients and vitamins, many of which are responsible for helping you maintain your youthful look. In turn, you may also start to see more inflammation on your skin, which is downright unsightly.

The most obvious way to prevent these instances from happening to you is to avoid drinking altogether, but this likely isn’t an ideal option. Do your skin some good by investing in a moisturizer that hydrates your body and keeps dryness at bay. In addition to investing in lotion, Discovery Health recommends drinking plenty of water. This can keep your body hydrated from the inside out.

About Lia Marchand

Shayna Murphy is a beauty blogger from Amherst, Massachusetts, who can trace her love of beauty products back to the one afternoon when she convinced her grandmother to buy her lime green nail polish. She enjoys cooking (Indian-style dishes are a specialty!), is a bit of a history buff and collects antique milk vases. Shayna reports on the latest makeup, skincare and fashion trends and will try to convince you on a regular basis that yes, you really should wear sunscreen daily. My favorite beauty product is... - Anything containing sea salt. It's probably the most amazing exfoliant I've ever used and it leaves my skin feeling fresh and smoother than ever. Can't leave the house without my... - Lip gloss. The rest of the day can be a total bust, but if I have a great gloss on I feel like at least I've done one thing right! I would describe my style as... - Definitely au naturale. While I love exploring new shades of eyeshadow and liner on special occasions, for me the most important part of any beauty regimen is keeping my skin clear and blemish-free.
