But Allure Magazine got the scoop on how to ensure shiny locks from some of the top stylists at New York Fashion Week. Here’s the deal.

After using a clarifying shampoo like Briogeo Be Gentle, Be Kind Green Tea Clarifying Shampoo to get rid of buildup, blowdry your hair as usual (without using any products) and use a flat iron to straighten your hair. This smoothes the hair cuticles, creating a sleek surface.

Now pick up a shine spray or cream like Fekkai – Advanced Brilliant Glossing Cream. Use a bit more than you normally would – as long as the product doesn’t contain silicone (which is in most shine serums), your hair won’t look wet.

Now blowdry your hair again quickly to set the product and create a “shield of shine,” as one stylist said. Looks almost reflective, doesn’t it?
