There’s nothing more relaxing and indulgent than a long soak in the tub, but have you ever considered bathing in something other than hot water and perhaps a product like AHAVA – Deadsea Mineral Bath Salt Sweet Cinnamon Silk? How about a dip in milk? Believe it or not, this fabulous liquid has plenty of skin benefits, from smoothing to moisturizing to softening. But how can you pull off a DIY milk bath at home without lugging gallons upon gallons of milk to your tub?

According to Glamour magazine’s beauty blog, the answer is powdered milk. All you have to do is mix it in with your water and a few other ingredients if you want to get a soothing soak that will leave your body glowing.

The Natural Beauty Workshop recommends mixing and matching basic ingredients like 2 cups of milk powder, 1 cup of grain powder, ½ cup of honey, clay, salt or cornstarch, 2 tablespoons of herbs or aloe vera, 2 teaspoons of essential oils and ¼ cup of baking soda. Combine them all or just choose ingredients that address your skin’s particular needs.

Some options include goat’s milk, coconut milk, oat flour, rice powder, honey, tea, chamomile, rose oil or lavender oil. Go online and do a bit of research to find the best options for your skin, then get mixing!

If you’re short on time, a body wash like Whish – Coconut Milk Exfoliating Body Wash can give you similar results!

About Lia Marchand

Shayna Murphy is a beauty blogger from Amherst, Massachusetts, who can trace her love of beauty products back to the one afternoon when she convinced her grandmother to buy her lime green nail polish. She enjoys cooking (Indian-style dishes are a specialty!), is a bit of a history buff and collects antique milk vases. Shayna reports on the latest makeup, skincare and fashion trends and will try to convince you on a regular basis that yes, you really should wear sunscreen daily. My favorite beauty product is... - Anything containing sea salt. It's probably the most amazing exfoliant I've ever used and it leaves my skin feeling fresh and smoother than ever. Can't leave the house without my... - Lip gloss. The rest of the day can be a total bust, but if I have a great gloss on I feel like at least I've done one thing right! I would describe my style as... - Definitely au naturale. While I love exploring new shades of eyeshadow and liner on special occasions, for me the most important part of any beauty regimen is keeping my skin clear and blemish-free.
