Women wonder about many things as they get older, and one question haunting many minds may be how their skin will age. Dr Jessica Wu, a dermatologist and Clinical Instructor in Dermatology at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, recently wrote on Beauty Counter Blog that there are a few factors that may indicate how your skin will age.
Genetics can offer clues as to how skin ages. “If you notice that your mother has deep furrow lines on her forehead or spots around her eyes, for example, you’ll want to pay extra attention to those areas and take preventative measures, such as using a retinol cream to build collagen [or] a spot-fading eye cream,” Dr Wu wrote.
Additionally, you should also consider your ethnicity when selecting preventative skincare. According to Dr Wu, women of African-American, Hispanic and Asian descent have darker, thicker skin with more collagen that is less likely to wrinkle but more prone to hyperpigmentation or brown spots. Conversely, Caucasian skin is more susceptible to fine lines and wrinkles.
Women searching for skincare products to prevent or counteract the signs of aging can use products from Exuviance, which offers a wide range of skincare items designed to combat such conditions as hyperpigmentation and wrinkles.
