Fall Lip Color Is Strong Yet Soft
While bolder colors are definitely in this fall, that doesn’t mean that the dark makeup must translate into a harsh or severe look. In fact, one of the hottest trends is to apply bold lipstick in a less precise manner.
“The colors are strong, but the edges of the lips are soft,” makeup artist Diane Kendal told Allure magazine. At Proenza Schouler, Kendall brushed purple lipstick on blonde models, and crimson on the brunettes, with a less meticulous, more blurred application.
The publication, however, notes that these hues may be a bit dramatic for off-runway looks, and suggests that women searching for a version of this look appropriate for every day should pat on a berry red stain.
Remember, to achieve this look you may want to put your lip liners away, as the pencils may create a line that is too severe for this soft look. Instead, cover lips with lip balm, to keep your pout soft and condition, and brush on a long-wearing lipstick formulated to last throughout the day, like Sothys Matte Lipstick or Babor Classic Lip Color.
