Is Red Eye Makeup Really Becoming Popular?
Are there any beauty rules that weren’t made to be broken? From white eyeliner to blue lipstick, it seems that one-time faux-pas are being embraced by glamor gals everywhere.
Now, it looks like there is one more beauty-don’t that is quickly becoming a beauty-do – red eye makeup. According to Allure.com, the bold color was used on the lids of models in a 2009 Prada fashion show. Most recently, Taylor Momsen, who stars as Jenny Humphrey on the hit show Gossip Girl, has been sporting the edgy shadow.
However, red eye makeup is not a simple trend to rock. “There is a fine very line between sexy and sickly,” the website reports. “Done right, red shadow can be pretty.”
To give your look a bit of edge, the news source suggests lining your upper lashes with black pencil and applying a streak of bright and shimmery shadow above it.
While finding red eye makeup may be a bit tricky, the Pop Beauty Day to Play kit boasts 24 shades of shadow, including a red-hued powder. Apply dark mascara for contrast and a quick coat of clear lip balm – keeping the rest of your makeup minimal will balance out dramatic eye makeup.
