Have You Ever Heard Of Ikat Print?
Sure, you’ve heard of leopard print and zebra print, but what about ikat print? Before you start picturing some kind of jungle animal called an ikat, you should know that this pattern can’t be found on a living creature’s coat. It’s just a textile dyeing technique that looks pretty cool – especially on your nails.
According to Glamour Magazine’s beauty blog, ikat print is pretty easy to pull off yourself with a little bit of practice and a great set of polishes from Lippmann Collection – Nail Lacquers.
First, paint your nails with a base coat to even out ridges and give your colors something to stick to. Then choose a shade that’ll be the background and paint on two coats.
When the background is dry, choose another color and make one, two or three big blobs of color on the nail (with plenty of space in between). They should be a bit uneven – perfectly symmetrical isn’t what you’re going for here.
Now use the background color to make a smaller blob in the middle of each of the blobs you just painted, creating what looks like rings. Finally, choose a third color and make small blobs in the center of the second blobs, then use that same final shade to create a feathered outline around each of the blobs (the ones you made first).
Finish with a top coat, then fix any mistakes with Lippmann Collection – The Stripper. Chic, right?
