How To Get A Red-Carpet Worthy Pout
Let’s be honest – the Academy Awards on Sunday were good for more than just reflecting on the merits of various films. If that weren’t the case, there wouldn’t be a torrent of coverage devoted to picking apart the attire and makeup.
In the latter category, lips were especially highlighted at this year’s awards show. Mandy Moore even surprised us a little with a sophisticated tangerine lipstick. Though all the usual suspects were there (including vibrant, scarlet red), it seems as though more starlets opted for sheer, neutral lip tones.
Champagnes and pinks were a favorite choice among actresses, as were bronzes and soft beiges. Of these, the barely-there lip was a big hit, which was featured prominently on the pouts of Jennifer Lawrence and Michelle Williams. Williams’ makeup artist actually created a custom lip color by blending the hue with some foundation.
To create this look at home, ladies can opt for a champagne or beige-colored lipstick (if the color isn’t light enough, applying concealer or foundation to your lips first will create the perfect base for a muted mouth). Top with balm or lipgloss to prevent lips from getting dried out.
