Some women consider manicures a lavish indulgence and reserve them for special occasions, while others simply view the treatment as a necessary component of their beauty routine. Regardless of the reason behind getting one’s nails professionally painted, there is one question all ladies seem to have – how can you make your manicure last as long as possible?

According to salon owner Robbie Schaeffer, it may be easy to prolong the life of your polished nails as long as you have the right products.

“Cuticle oil goes a long way and not only keeps cuticles healthy, it also reduces dry, flaky skin around your nail beds and can reduce hangnails,” Schaeffer told TotalBeauty, adding that the moisturizing product should be applied daily.

You should also apply a clear top coat three days after your manicure. This will protect your nail polish from chipping and will help keep color looking shiny and fresh.

Finally, Schaeffer reminds women to keep nails short, as longer nails are prone to chip faster and break more easily, and to avoid prolonged exposure to hot water, as it can lift polish off the nail bed. He suggests keeping showers short, limiting time spent soaking in the tub and wearing gloves when washing dishes.ADNFCR-3538-ID-19928051-ADNFCR
