Like many years before this one, the arrival of fall signals the reemergence of darker-hued makeup. From richer shades of eyeshadows to more deeply colored lipsticks, autumnal cosmetics are sure to be a bit more sultry than their summertime counterparts.

While darker makeup can be alluring and flattering, it can also be unnerving to rock – after all, deep colors are more noticeable, and may draw more attention to the areas to which they are applied.

So it is understandable that women with thinner lips may be wary of painting their pout a rich berry, regardless of how hot the hue is this season. However, by using a bit of liner, girls can fake their way to fuller-looking lips.

Though it may seem counterintuitive, ladies shouldn’t choose a lip liner that matches their lipstick. Instead, InStyle.com suggests that gals select a pencil that is a shade darker than their natural lip color, and rim just outside the line of their mouth.
