As the summer brights start to fade away (and the lights of spring are officially a thing of the past), women across the country may soon begin to dabble in the richer tones synonymous with fall. And while some ladies opt for emerald-colored smoky eyes, other gals prefer to paint their pouts a deep shade of ruby.
For those women who have been anxiously awaiting autumn’s bold lips, makeup guru Tom Pecheux recently spoke to Allure.com about the best tricks to utilize when creating a deep-colored pout.
“If you’re going to do a bold lip, you should do it first, before the eyes and the cheeks,” Pecheux told the news source, adding that the color will set the tone for the rest of your look and will help you refrain from applying too much makeup.
The artist then recommended that women add emphasis to their eyes with mascara, navy liner and a very minimal amount of shadow, as pigment on the lids can distract from long lashes.
“[Navy is] a nice surprise as opposed to black,” he told the website, explaining that there is a simple way to achieve a flawlessly applied winged eyeliner. “Don’t follow the shape of your top lid, follow your bottom.”
