Blame it on the rich color palette of fall – recently, Hollywood’s most glamorous gals have been spotted wearing deep, vivid lipstick.
At Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards, Kate Hudson and Kyra Sedgwick walked the red carpet sporting extremely pretty pouts. While Kate painted her lips a classic crimson, Kyra opted for a rich, berry pink hue, topping the color with a coat of shiny gloss.
And while bold-colored lipstick may seem like an easy trend to take on, there are a few steps women may want to take prior to painting their pouts to ensure a flawless overall look.
Before applying lip color, hydrate your lips with a conditioning lip balm, as a dark hue will make cracks and dry flakes more noticeable. If lips are especially chapped, gently exfoliate them with a mild scrub or a soft-bristled toothbrush.
Lip liner can help your lip color last and keep it from bleeding. When applying it, however, remember to fill in your lips completely. If you opt to just outline your smile, color can wear away unevenly, leaving you with a deeply concentrated ring of pigment on the perimeter of your pout.
